EURAD
Privacy Policy
This notice explains what personal data EURAD collects when you use this website, why we use it, and the rights you have under EU law.
Last updated: 17 August 2026. EURAD is a European non-profit drug policy network registered as an ASBL under Belgian law.
Who is responsible
The controller for personal data processed through this website is EURAD ASBL.
EU correspondence address: EURAD, Norway House, 17 Rue Archimède, B-1000 Brussels, Belgium.
General enquiries: eurad@eurad.net.
If you contact a named staff member (for example the Communication Officer), that mailbox is used only to handle your request.
What we collect
We collect as little as we need to run the site and answer you:
- Contact and newsletter forms — name, email address, and any message you send. These forms are only processed if you submit them. The newsletter signup is stored with our mailing provider once that service is connected; until then, submissions should not be treated as a live mailing list.
- Site search — the words you type in search are used to return results. We do not use search queries to build marketing profiles.
- Technical logs — the web server and WordPress may record IP address, browser type, date and time, and the pages requested. This is used for security, debugging and to keep the site available.
- Membership applications — if you email us to join, we keep the information you send in order to assess membership against our published criteria.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for automated decisions that produce legal effects.
Cookies
This website is built on WordPress. Essential cookies may be set so the site works (for example if an editor is logged in). We do not currently run a third-party advertising or analytics pixel on these pages.
Image and performance plugins on the server may load assets in a way that uses a short-lived technical cookie or local storage. These are not used to track you across other websites.
Links to X (Twitter) and Facebook open those platforms. Their cookies and privacy rules apply only after you leave eurad.net.
Why we use data (legal bases)
- Legitimate interests — to operate a public information site, protect it from abuse, and answer professional enquiries (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Consent — if we send a newsletter, we will do so only where you have asked us to (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Legal obligation — where Belgian or EU law requires us to keep records (Art. 6(1)(c)).
How long we keep data
Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to reply and follow up, then deleted or archived with restricted access. Server logs are rotated on a normal hosting schedule. Membership records are kept for the life of the membership and a limited period afterwards for governance.
Who we share data with
Hosting and maintenance providers who run this WordPress site may process data as processors, under our instructions. We do not share mailing or contact lists with other NGOs or commercial brokers.
If you apply for EU or UN related activities through us, we may share relevant details with the institution or partner you asked us to contact, and only for that purpose.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask to access, correct, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and receive a copy of data you provided (portability), where those rights apply.
Write to eurad@eurad.net. You may also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit) or your local EU supervisory authority.
Children
This site is intended for a professional and public-policy audience. We do not knowingly collect data from children in order to offer them services.
Changes
We may update this notice when the site or the law changes. The date at the top of this page will change when we do.
